Lip Lee put his story hat on and told us how long ago in China there was no rain. The animals were all dying and the Emperor prayed for rain. The dragons breath helped the winds to blow and a black cloud came, then the rain poured down. Ever since then the Chinese have celebrated the New Year on the 18th February.

The children got to wear the story hat.

Animals are highly respected in China. Each new year is named after an animal this year it is the turn of the pig. The dragon is the most revered animal in the calander. The children had great fun playing with the lion!

At New year people don't give presents like we do at Christmas but they give money in a special red envelope.

We all worked really hard making our own New Year Dragons.
