Anyone for Fish and Ships?
Year 5/6 have been chosen, along with three other Gateshead schools, to take part in Newcastle University's Fish & Ships project.
Fish & Ships is a two year outreach programme for children in years 6 and 7.
Each of the four chosen Gateshead schools have been given an important area of the Tyne to study: North Shields, Hebburn, The Baltic Quay and Wylam. We are learning about North Shields.
Susan Gebbels from Newcastle University is leading five sessions with our class as a build-up to our visit to the Dove Laboratory in Cullercoats on February 24th.
We have been learning about lighthouses, and even built our own!
We made and tested our own ships.
Susan brought in a 'touch tank' full of real sea creatures for us to hold and look at!
We have really enjoyed our Fish & Ships project!!
