As part of our topic work we were learning about children in the 19th Century who worked down the mine. Next year, we will be commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Felling Pit disaster when 94 people were killed, many of them children. We did lots of role-play about family life and learned about all the different jobs that people did. We made sketches of the jobs using charcoal.
As part of our international learning we found out all about Italy. We decided to visit an Italian restaurant, 'The Godfather', in Newcastle. Fun was had by all and we really enjoyed the tasty pizzas and pasta. We shared our learning with the rest of the school, our friends and families. We acted out our own restaurant where we ordered our food in Italian with the Italian speaking waiters!
Chestnut Class have been learning about Fruitilicious Veggies this term. They went to Brockbushes Farm in Corbridge to pick their own fruit!

This year Key Stages 1 and 2 joined together to produce one christmas production: Baboushka!
A group of lucky children were chosen to go to Chopwell Woods to choose our Christmas Tree this year.
Today was National Takeover Day, where children have been given the opportunity to 'takeover' different responsibilities within school.

The very talented children from our school put on two fantastic Christmas Productions this year.
The children in Reception and Key Stage One performed a traditional nativity play and the Key Stage Two children performed a Pantomime.
The whole school came out to watch our Balloon Launch, which celebrated our Outstanding Ofsted.
Year 1 and 2 have been learning about Toys from the past with Mrs Wilson. They had a visit from a special old bear....

Key Stages 1 and 2 had a fantastic time at Gateshead International Stadium for their sports day.
Reception and Y1 went along to the Hatton Gallery for a Chinese work shop.
We had a fun morning finding out all about The Chinese New Year with Lip Lee!
Y1 and Y2 had a great time visiting Fenwicks window and meeting Santa Claus.
Children and staff from Reception to Year 5 went to Brandling Community Centre this afternoon to sing carols and songs from their Christmas plays.
The children from the Nursery to Year 2 worked together with their wonderful teaching team to present 'The Sleepy Shepherd' for Christmas. All parents, family, friends and visitors said how wonderful they all were.
Y1 & 2 joined Falla Park and Carr Hill Primary School to work on basic skills with Mr. Davidson and students at Thomas Hepburn. Everyone worked solidly at keeping fit and having fun. The children practised basic skills from throwing and catching to skipping.
Children loved jumping over the mini hurdles!
We all went along to the Centre For Life to learn about 'Our Body' as part of our science topic Health and Growth.
We all worked in groups and learned about teeth, bones and animals.
We have been learning all about baptism in our R.E. lessons this term. We all went along to Christ Church to take part in our own Baptism and to talk to Trevor.
As part of the Take That 2006 Y1/2 were privilaged to see two productions: Feather and Stone at Carr Hill Primary School and The Tree of Life at Brandling.
The children have shown how good they are at keeping fit. Everyone participated in our sponsored event this term. Year 1/2 raised over £140!!! A big thank-you goes out to everyone who contributed.
